You’ve probably been asked before – “Are you doing Google Ads?” – and if your answer has been a vague “not yet” or a panicked “I wouldn’t even know where to start”, then this post is for you.
Google Pay-Per-Click advertising is one of the most powerful tools in a small business owner’s digital marketing arsenal. But it’s also one of the most misunderstood. So let’s break it down.
What Actually Is Google PPC?
PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click. When someone searches on Google, they see a mix of organic results and paid ads – those listings at the very top (and sometimes the bottom) of the page marked with a small “Sponsored” label. Every time someone clicks one of those ads, the advertiser pays Google a fee. That fee is your ad spend, and it goes directly to Google.
What you’re paying a specialist like me for is the strategy, setup, and ongoing management that makes sure those clicks are worth it.
Why Can’t I Just Do It Myself?
Technically, you can! Google makes it pretty easy to throw money at an ad. But making that money work? That’s a completely different skill set.
Without the right structure, keyword strategy, and ongoing optimisation, it’s entirely possible to burn through your budget and see very little in return. I’ve seen it happen more times than I care to count. A well-managed campaign, on the other hand, can deliver a genuinely impressive return on investment – and that’s what we’re aiming for.
What Does “Management” Actually Mean?
When you sign up for Google PPC management with Trax Media Co, here’s what happens:
- I build your entire campaign from the ground up, with a proper account structure, keyword research, and ad copy written specifically for your audience.
- I connect conversion tracking so we know when ads are turning into actual enquiries or sales.
- Every month, I review performance, adjust bids, test new ad variations, and make sure your budget is being used as efficiently as possible.
- You get a clear, readable monthly report – no confusing dashboards, no industry jargon.
What About the Ad Spend?
Your ad spend – the budget you set for Google to actually run your ads – is paid directly by you to Google. My management fee of £300/month is completely separate and covers my time, expertise, and all the work that goes into running your account well.
This means you’re in full control of how much you spend on ads at all times. I’ll advise you on what budget is realistic to see results, but the spend is always yours to control.
Is There a Commitment?
Yes – and there’s a good reason for it. Google Ads doesn’t always hit its stride in week one. The algorithm learns, data builds up, and campaigns improve over time. That’s why I ask for a minimum 6-month commitment. It gives us enough time to do this properly and actually see meaningful results. After those 6 months, a 2-month notice period applies if you decide to move on.
So, Is It Right for You?
If you want to appear at the top of Google when your ideal customer is actively searching for what you offer – yes, it’s probably right for you. It works brilliantly for service businesses, local businesses, product-based businesses, and everything in between.
