Is your website making this huge mistake?

We often think that simple is better when it comes to websites, give our customers a concise and easy to navigate site without too many options to overwhelm them.

However when it comes to organising your services, one of the worst things you can do is put everything onto one page.

I can see the logic behind it. They’ve gone to your website because they want to work with you, so let’s put all of the information they may need in one place.

When it comes to Google though, you’re confusing the heck out of it.

What exactly is this page supposed to rank for? Take my website for example, if I had all of my services on one page am I wanting Google to rank me for Social Media? Coaching? Website Building? SEO? If it’s all on one page then these terms will be eternally competing against one another and Google is likely to give up, shrug its shoulders and rank you for precisely nothing.

I’d also argue that it doesn’t actually make things easier for your client. I rarely have a client who wants ‘one of everything’ when it comes to my services and I doubt you do too. Rather than asking them to scroll through information they don’t want, if there’s a dedicated page per service then they can go straight to all of the information they need.

If you’re ever in doubt, look at some of the biggest websites out there. Does Zara have all of its clothing on one page? Nope. Are the recipes on BBC Good Food in one long list? Nope.

Yes it requires more work from you, or it’ll cost you more when having your website built, but trust me the pitfalls of cutting this certain corner is worth the extra time or pennies.
